Its not really tabbed to be honest. Its like having 8 windows open(time consuming to switch).

problem with the Ipod-Ipad and all ECO low power yet high power media devices they tend to have a Low power CPU. Good for ECO reason and good for Batt Life. Also tend to be shit for multitasking as we are normally talking about a 1GHZ something that can just about do 1 thing at once. Even if apple add multitasking to the ipad it will probably be quite slow as the device is a low power device. in the same way Nvidia Ions are pretty slow at multitasking. People forget just how powerful a budget Core 2 is vs any mobile CPU. now this might change as Devices use the GPU NOT CPU for multtasking (that is really going to happen) but then the bug bear is the GPU will be working hard eating the battery.

So if you want power you need a proper I7 laptop, otherwise with the low spec low power devices there are things they can't do or just won't do well.

With the Ipad and or even the Dell MX11 when you start opening lots of webpages the RAM will fill, and the CPu will struggle if you keep multitasking. One of the reason multitasking was missing from the ipod was for batt life reasons. in fact many phones have no multitasking or very limited MT for same reason. Something as "sexy" as an Ipad but as powerful as our desktops is 3-5 years away.

When you start looking at the new high end win7 tablets you talking about $2k+ for some of the tablets that would really function like a desktop PC and the ipad is dirt cheap vs that.

No matter what Steve Job's says the ipad is just a ipod-iphone with a bigger screen. And that's fine the Iphone kicked life into a stagnent mobile market and forced them to up their game. Even if you don't want a ipad. Your next PC netbook-laptop will be better just to compete with the ipad. Just how many windows laptops have touchscreen for under $800?

So thanks steve jobs, no thanks for ipad (yet) I would like a better GPU and large HDD for the money (so I'm gunna buy dell). but Thanks for making mobile PC's better as Dell et all will have to compete on features and price.

well, if they can make a full os ipad that can use a stylus, it'd be invaluable to artists... Mac OSX and a Tablet, combined at last. Only other option is to buy a $2000 Wacom and an Existing mac, another $2000 :-/

Pretty much that was the only reason why I might of bought it as if this was true I would of been all over faster than pedo bear would get into jail if he were to teach at a kinder garden school.

Well the ipad, ipod and iphone are due limited multi task this year, the reason it was not there from start was battery life. But with all the wrap around batt's now for the apple devices that double or treble batt life this is not as big an issue so it looks like apple will open up the devices more.

not to mention andriod tablets could really upset the ipad technically and software wise fast so apple have to offer more options.

There is nothing novel or unique about the ipad and Google have the dosh to wage war in the pad market and stop apple dominating like the media player and phone market.

For me a tablet must have a 720 16:9 display HDMI 1080p output. Decent fake 5.1 sound for a headset and be as fast top use a 3GHZ core 2 duo for web and basic media apps and allow me to task at least 3-5 windows from time to time. None of the new sub $1000 tablets really do that yet but that should happen this year.
