So i should give it some time then check the temps? If my temps are 50 with this cooler would it be defective or is this normal?

You would probably get a 1C difference in temps. i would say 45 degrees max on that cooler for idle.

guess i'll go to compusa and return it for a V8 tomorrow then.

Edit: well a friend just pointed out i could go with the Corsair H50 instead for around the same price but i've never done watercooling before, so which one should i go for.

dude... chilltech u ve is damaged.. as on idle it should be no more that 35... well u should go for nocuta NH-14 or something... or the Prolimatech Megahalems with 2 good quality silent fans in push/pull and ur good to go.... but if the budget comes between the H50 is better that V8

I had the Hyper 212 by cooler master which looked just like those and was direct touch heatpipes but i guess i'll return my chilltec and just get the h50 cause i don't feel like waiting for a new that could be damaged again.

I've heard some great things about the H50. If you like then go for it.

The H50 is designed to intake cool air from the back of the case. So if your Airflow is in the opposite direction, it won't perform as well.

The Prolimatech Megahalems is the best cooler out there, and my recommendation...

Well i got the H50 installed and put the intake fan on top of the case to get more air since the back of the case faces the wall. I get like 49-50 idle and went up to 64 on like test 2 of prime but after that it stayed around 60 max on core 0.

depends if its a push or pull setup rly

a little trick i picked up along the way, if youre not sure which way the fan blows, take a small piece of tissue and place in front of the fan, itll give you an accurate direction and then you can position it accordingly

i would personally put it as a pull fan exhausting to the rear

Shame.. Don't you guys know as a general rule the air blows THROUGH the fan supports?

I actually regret replacing my True Black with the Megashadow, although there is only a degree or two's difference. So in my eyes a nice lapped and pressure modded True is the best.
