Just like it says in the title. Got any suggestions for a ghetto box build. Something along the lines of the Basket Case! Or, any other idea for a PC Box. No matter how daft, or sensible, it may seem. Cheers guys :).

These ideas are mainly for 'Shalomyo' who is thinking about making a ghetto build.
I already thought about a barrel and a small coffin. But it was a little too macabre.

Your thoughts please.

A computer within an old style CRT with an LED monitor in the front would be cool, you'd even get to mod the front to make a widescreen monitor look good in it.

Brilliant thinking! Could be an original there. Old crt's can be had fairly cheap too. In fact most people have one lieing around after upgrade. Appreciate the input.

Ultimately the decision is up to Shalomyo. So, keep em coming guys and gals... Do we have any of those here?

I have an old 27'' CRT TV that my parents are about to junk, it would fit a motherboard, trust me, you can get old TVs cheap now too.

Replace the viewing window with a monitor. house the rest of the PC inside.

best way to do it would be to make it so the monitor is part of the door, so you can still push the eject button to get inside the PC and work on it :D

A train station is where trains stop. A bus station is where buses stop. And that's why my PC is a workstation.

The tv, bbq, speakers and treasure chest all crossed my mind previously (believe it or not). I even priced up some ancient looking tv's and radios on ebay.

All the suggestions are commendable. Thanks team. But, so far, I have to say the crt idea is likely to be the most picturesque. That would probably work with an old tv too. But the computer connection with the crt is a great concept. I think it would make a good lan box too, if you're that way inclined. +1 to MohawkUS.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take too many build skills to make it look sweet, as everything is hidden behind the new screen.
Anyway, if it doesn't get built here then the secrets out on the net now. Google will find it and someone will build it... Somewhere :D.

I still think that new gear and PC cases like Larrys' latest mouth watering build are fantastic. But building your own computer in a unique case has that extra personal touch that you just can't buy :).

I like it too. But the build time is only 30 seconds. Then you have to let it stand :).

and any suggestion where i could find one?i threw out my last one over 5 years ago

ebay seems like pick up only

PS I think i found someone willing to give away a free 21" crt, would that be enough for my needs? btw how could i carry such a monitor?

I would get at least a 27'', I have one right now, but shipping worldwide on it would be too expensive.
