I really like Norman Rockwell art, especially my favorite, the perennially cute Before the Shot.

Good people don't need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while the bad will find ways around them.

I have an i7980X as well at 4.5Ghz *1.42v.

May I ask how stable your system is? As that seems extremely high for the Hexacore for normal use...

I'll update when I increase the OC when I get the new Monitor
currently the UEFI on my board does not recognize my SVGA monitor (so getting into UEFI Is a pain- swapping monitors)

Seems the CPUID links don't work anymore. And since I can't link a URL here, guess you don't get to see my OC ^_^

I still think my most impressive OC ever was getting my ol' QX6850 to 4GHz on cheap liquid cooling. That was back in the day though.

I've had the following in the past:

AMD Athlon 3400+ (2.4GHz stock I think) at 2.8GHz (forgot the voltage but it was crazy)
FX-55 @ 3GHz
FX-60 @ 3GHz
Opteron 165 @ 2.6GHz
Opteron 165 (different one) @ 2.4GHz
Opteron 185 @ 3GHz
Then came the switch to Intel...
QX6850 @ 3.666GHz, later 3.8GHz & 4GHz
Q9650 @ 4GHz
QX9770 @ 4GHz
i5 760 @ 4GHz 1.4V (I think, don't remember it's been a while now)
& then my current:
i7 2600k @ 3.8(1.27V)/4.4(1.34V)/4.6GHz(1.36V)

I'll post up a screenie of the CPUz with my current 4.4GHz OC when I get home if I have time... X_X

Britrb - Core i72700K @ 100x46 - 4.600Ghz (Stock 3.50 Ghz) - 1.344 V under load CPU-Z Liquid cooled.

Looking at everyone else's my Bus speed and Multiplier is the other way around. Is this bad? I basically used the Asus easy clock thingy on the board (I'm an OC'ing idiot/noob!)

Brian :)

No it's not bad ^_^ Overclocking works in two ways. Either you raise the baseclock or the multiplier. Last is unlocked usually on the more expensive CPUs, that's why people tend to OC over the baseclock. The baseclock is linked to the memory and MB. So you have 3 reasons instead of one why your OC might be unstable. But if you overclock via baseclock you can also increase the speed of the MB and the memory.

In the end the difference is so small that you wouldn't notice it in 24/7 usage. It easier and in my opinion better to OC the CPU via multiplier. Not only is it easier but you avoid damaging the motherboard or the memory as well ...

You have a solid OC there though ;)
