Congratulations to Lucy who's Nick Le just passed the million mark. May the second million come easier than the first. LOL

Ms. Honey Badger you care to show us what those magical 560's of yours can do...........

I will revive this old thread from the dust!

So I'm folding on the i7 3930k @ stock as we speak, and it's have some odd issues thus far... I have SpeedStep disabled & power state in Windows set to maximum as the minimum setting so it can't "turn down the CPU" since it's only folding... but: For some odd reason my PPD dipped more than once, significantly, from the 40k-40.9K PPD it gets when it's running smooth down to sometimes as low as 25k PPD... The second time it did this it appeared as if Windows was running it's Assessment Tool almost, as my GPU heated up for several seconds then went back to relaxing O_o and the theme changed from basic to Aero during that droop...

I tested this stock setting of 3.8GHz Turbo Mode with 1.2V stable via Intel Burn Test, so I'm 99% sure it's stable as a brick, and the majority of this fold so far it's been steady at 40K+ PPD, any suggestions ya'll can think of to help me root out this elusive problem?

I will begin OCing probably Thursday, hopefully the temps will stay acceptable, as currently it's folding @ 50-53C load, not bad but not great for stock either, under the H100. I'm still hopin' I can push 4.6GHz to equal my 2600k's clock so that I can see just how much those extra two cores & memory/PCI-E bandwidth effect benchmarks.

I don't see how your 3930K would pump 40k ppd at 3.8 when mine does 33k ppd at 4.25GHz... the 25k ppd seems to be on track

shes probably just gauging off that one specific wu on average. Once you start getting a mix of WUs it will drop a bit i am sure on average.

Gettin' 36.8K PPD steady on this 770 base point unit as we speak. The 3930k was running a 552 base point unit & getting 40-40.9k PPD on it, I just had to sort out some nagging Process issues. It's all about the WU though, those 552pt ones are beastly in PPD compared to some of the other larger ones. By comparison, my 2600k @ 4.6GHz is only gettin' 28k PPD on this 644pt unit, but there's a difference of 4 extra threads between it and the 3930k... plus the additional memory bandwidth of Quad Channel, and it's a clean install so very few side programs are installed currently.

I'll post up a screen if the Tracker info.

what project number?

I had a bigadv the first time I started folding with this cpu and it ended up taking around a day and the final result was about 110K...but bigadv for windows 1P system is dead http://www.overclock...8890/smp-bigadv

And that unit is notoriously low as far as PPD goes compared to others.

I think the one I was getting 40K PPD on was P7905, could be wrong though... it had a TPF of 1m57s though, super fast. Was done in under 2hrs & netted about 5k in points I think.

I'm back up & folding on the 2600k w/3 580s, I'll report back with that PPD shortly... P7504 on the SMP, and 3 P8008s on the GPUs. 3930k is foldin' at @ 4GHz at 36.4-36.7K PPD like in the screenshot above. If these GPU WUs are worth a decent amount I should be getting around 135k PPD for the next few days while I can run this (while I'm asleep/at work)

So here's how it looks now with the current sloth of crappy GPU WUs & the 3930k chuggin' away at 4.4GHz:

Posted Image

3x 580s @ 797MHz 1.013V (51-54C load): 19.1K PPD/card = 57.3K PPD
i7 2600k @ 4.6GHz 1.36V (50s load): 23.5k folding on 7 cores

Posted Image

i7 3930k @ 4.4GHz 1.28V (low 60s load): 41.6k PPD

For a grand total of: ~122K PPD

That's assuming I don't get better GPU WUs and kick back up to 24-25k PPD/card on those.

I'm unsure of if I'll leave the 3930k like this or go back to stock as it is running warmer than I'd like... but even that only nets me about a 5K PPD drop going from 4.4 back down to 4.0GHz (which is stable at stock voltage, go figure)... but either way, my goal is to pass 5Mil before I stop GPU folding for the hot temps out here. At this rate, I'll hit that by the middle of this month.
