hi all, currently running a core i5 760 @ 2.8ghz on stock fan and the cooling is shocking tbh (hit temps of 98 using prime 95 before) and im looking at getting a new heatsink, but im unsure of what one to get, i like the look of the Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler but im not sure if it would be too big for my mobo? if this is, what can you reccomend to me that is around the £40 or less mark? thanks in advance for any help
Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E LX
CPU: i5 760
GPU: Radeon HD5670
CPU Cooler: stock
Memory: Kingston HyperX 4GB
PSU: 650w
OS: Windows XP

Hi there, Welcome to Trubritar Forums

1: What case do you have?
2: The Thermaltake Frio won't be to big for your mobo,
3: If you have a case that fits the Noctua D14/Silver Arrow, Save up for one of them, Well worth the money.

Yea mention the case! If the case can fit the TT silver arrow it would be insane!

I personally favor Noctua coolers. They are usually quiet and quite powerful in pretty much any category...
Based on the case we can make a recommendation though. Otherwise it's hard to know what will fit.

What kind of a budget did you had in mind for this?
Did you plan on overclocking your CPU?

atm i literally have the cheapest case i could buy, i only bought it so i could house it all and i thought it would last a few months, but looking at some of the temps ive been getting i want a new one asap and im looking at getting the cooler master 430 and 3 extra fans (rear, side and top) and then a heatsink. the budget for case, fans and heatsink is about £100-125 and yeah i am looking at overclocking when i have better cooling :P

Do us all a favor and get the NZXT Gamma instead of the crapy Elite 430!

Get the following

NZXT GAMMA
4x Noctua NF-P12-1300 120mm Case Fan(1x front, 1x side, 2x top)
Scythe Mugen Rev. 2 Cooler as u wont be able to get the TT silver arrow or D-14 and Scythe mugen is one hell of a cooler for its price

i would say get the NZXT M59 case with 3 120mm xigmatek fans, led or no led, about 8 euros each, 2x top, 1xfront. and then thermaltake frio if its still in your budget. the m59 plus 3 xigmatek fans and the frio comes in at about 106 euros.

You are better off with air penetrators then those noctuas ;) and the cogage arrow (a cheaper version of the silver) is also quite good.

if noctuas were cheaper, they might actually be good.

NZXT Gamma is bad.

I reconmend the HAF 912 or CM 690 II Advanced. Really good cases for the price. If you are on a low budget, i would lean towards the HAF 912.
