hello gents,
my new setup is on its way, w/e i get a i7 2600k + Asrock p67 pro
any of you can tell me if the Speedstep feature is still present on this series of chipset? like the 1156 ones....
i will probably o/c to 3.8/4ghz but dont want it at full speed all the time....
i managed to enable this feature on my little oc on i5 750.... sitting it at 1400mhz on idle....
anyway to do the same on the new sandy platform?
thanks
SpeedStep and sandybridge

Speedstep is available and necessary to overclock.
Your probably used to overclocking via BaseClock. This is no no longer really possible (some boards allow a few MHz but not as much as any previous sockets).
You will find two features which have to be activated now in the UEFI (new BIOS) to make the OC possible. One being SpeedStep, the other being Intel TurboMode.
You overclock with the last by raising it's multiplier hopefully somewhere to the 5 GHz region. If you deactivate Speedstep the TurboMode type deal disappears.
I hope I answered your question to your satisfaction...
