alright so i was thinking of getting a ssd or raid config / hard drives just so i could get instant loading times while using vmware but.. recently i just had a hunch that even if i get either one of those my write / read loading times wouldn't really be up to my expectations while using vmware software or so , and i thought maybe it's because virtual pc's might have a software bottleneck due to them being emulated perhaps? i don't know if it's that bad or so doesn't take much advantage off the ssd or raid/hardrive or it's a minor give or take on the performance ?

technically my question is..
while using ssds or raid/hardrive will there be a software bottleneck while using and how bad is it going to be? example if ssd has 900mb read / 700mb write speed - will vmware use like 400mb~700mb read speed and 300~500mb write speed?
or something like that pretty close or way far off like just 80mb/200mb write read speed or.. meh you get the point or im just confusing

well anyone here perhaps can try and tell me how it goes on vmware loading times and while opening programs in virtual pc's ? from experience.. or tests
appreciate the feed back : )

well don't want to buy an ssd or raid config just to later on find out that theirs a major annoying bottleneck.. for the stuff that i will be doing ><.. so i'm asking early before i buy ;

lol at my grammar so lazy to fix it ._.;;

the gaming you see today is actually nothing versus the future gaming.. even though it's fun to our eyes.. too bad we will be dead though before we even see the future.. (This means if your thinking your having fun with your life think again because your not compared to what's going to be going out.. Your going to be missing a lot of fun and experiences like waves and echos going through your body)

Back in 2008 I got certified on VMWARE ESXi, but only mananged SAN and virtual servers across an array of physical servers. VMWARE allowed me to pool physical resources...CPUS, memory, HD controllers and NICS. Then I could open a VM and use those resources to defeat bottlenecks(I/O).

Can you tell me more about what hardware resources you will use? How many motherboards/CPUs, HD controllers, drives? Also, what version of VMWARE are you looking at?

War you should find even a cheap SSD helps as the microsecond sec across multi installs will help. but your a bit screwed on Size needs as each os may need multi GB and that ends up being a pricey 240-480GB SSD.

I would try the install with HDD see the size needed and then check benchmarks and if you can borrow or hire a SSD of the right size to see if it's worth the extra cash.

The SSD benefit here is not the RW speeds its more the seek which is basically well below 1ms and no spin up time. The issue is depending on what your doing across multi OS if the extra costs are worth it.
