This has been going on for ages now. If you could take the time to read through this and get to know my situation I would deeply appreciate it.

My internet is very unreliable. It drives me MAD. Cuts out in Skype calls all the time, looses connection to games and is slow.
I'm using one of those Wireless G USB adapters, which used to overheat all the time so I modified it with a big heatsink. Now it doesn't get so hot but is still kinda unreliable.

We ditched out Netgear wireless G router in favour for a Wireless N300 one.
The new one still supports wireless a/b/g etc so all the other devices in the house can still connect to it.

However, my computer is wierd. In wireless connections, it says "the connections settings for this network do not match the settings saved on this computer" and has an x next to it and doesn't allow me to connect to it.
I know that the settings are all correct however...

So basically, I keep on refreshing it, and then after 5 minutes or so suddenly it connects! Internet works, decent speed and everything.
Wierd...

Every time I reboot or unplug the adapter I have to do this to get it to connect.

I got annoyed having to do this so bought a wireless N300 PCI card for £40. It arrived, didn't work and I sent it back, they said it was faulty and gave me a refund.
Reluctantly I bought another PCI card, this time a cheapy £12 Tenda Wireless N300 pci card. It arrived, I installed it and it connected. It lasted for one day, and then started having problems. It would disconnect every five minutes or so, and was really slow.

I went back to using the dogey wireless G usb adapter, and just put up with its problems for a while.
Now I'm getting annoyed, so decided to try the pci card again just now.

It connects to the network, with about 50% signal strength, however nothing internet related will load.
Sometimes it says "internet access", other times it says "no internet access". When it has internet access however, web pages won't load, skype wont sign in, although Dropbox sometimes connects.

Also, the internet access lasts for about a minute before it looses internet access.

I cannot access the router settings when it is connected to the network, with or without internet access.

PLEASE. SOMEONE WITH SOME EXPERIENCE IN THIS FIELD HELP ME!
I BEG YOU!

Thanks :P

1/ run just one machine with a WIRE for a 1 day to one week and see if there are ANY issues.

if NOT then its not your ISP OR the router ITS WIFI.

If you still have issues while wired then your have bad wifi sources in your area (such as a router on wrong channels or forgien settings on routers, a unshielded microwave or BAD 2.4ghz doorbell , baby CCTV, videos sender) There is not much you can do about this but either try to move to 5GHZ or move to apple router. Or you have malware on your network-rig and the router is having a fit (even the new one) and trying to protect you.

We run several machines on wired, all with no problems. When my computer is having problems all the other devices are fine, it's just me. My laptop is perfectly fine with wireless.

We have a wireless phone, but no other 2.4ghz devices in the house. Doesn't seem to cause any problems with my laptop so maybe it's the channels?

Not sure about malware on any of our computers, I think they are all clean...

So what do you suggest?

try fiddling with the channels. It is also not just wireless devices that can cause issues - I had an issue where a power cable was ontop of one of my airport units today and the EM field surrounding that was enough to mess with the wireless. Can also be neighbors wireless devices causing the issues.

So yea try having a fiddle with the channels - certainly don't leave it on auto.

I tried all of the channel settings to no avail :(
On a plus the little wireless G USB adapter is working fine at the moment, still tricky to get it to connect, but once it does it's pretty stable.

Any other ideas?
