Basically, I have recently applied for a work at home job.

To connect to work you need to use your home telephone, broadband and computer for access. Before you can advance further in the hire process you must verify your computer by it's system specification. However, when I hit the button to do so, I receive an error stating 'No network is available to perform the system test. Please use the network troubleshooter in the troubleshooting menu.'. Even though I am connected to the internet without issue.'

I have used the network troubleshooter and everything comes back positive. I have even got the disc replaced, and that isn't the issue either.

I believe, but I am not sure that the software connects via VPN.

The software is actually a bootable linux deviant called Workbooth. Though when I do try and connect and receive this error I am definitely connected to the internet.

There is a help section on this website, that one I can't understand and two would this even help? - http://www.workbooth...omeNetworks.htm

I rang up Workbooth tech support and they say that I should enable VPN IP Sec, but my router, a Netgear DG834GT does not have that function, however I did DMZ the computer that I will be using the software upon with no success.

They also said that I should ring my ISP (talktalk) as they have had problems with them, I am currently waiting for my ticket to be issued. And that I should try the software at a different location on a different network and I have done that (on BT) with no success.

Where am I going wrong guys? Is there anything I can do to get by this?

Only fast way round would be to buy a 3g modem and try that (USB) stick. I would ask the software maker if that is a known workaround.

But some (not all) of the work from home software kits are banned by ISP's as they are fraudulant so you might want to check that as well! Some are pretty evil bot nets so I would do some research before you install anything.....

Looking at http://www.workbooth...equirements.htm you more than exceed that, so it's most probably ISP related. So you can either change ISP ask them to fix it. But I will warn you about 95% of all work from home schemes are 'dodgy' So I would do a heap of research before you do anything.

Rule of thumb being if they ask for money up front in any way they are dodgy.

I understand Larry, they actually have a large building in Belfast, massive actually so they are legit. The only thing they have asked me to put money towards is if there is any additional hardware that I need to purchase to connect to them, or my computer doesn't meet their system requirements.

You don't necessarily have to install anything as the CD I was provided with was a Bootable Linux disc, where nothing is written to the hard drive. Imagine the Linux boot disc and where you can try it out without installing. It's like that only with their own custom configuration.

We aren't allowed to use 3G sticks as there is a reliability issue. As in, nothing meets the uptime and stability of ethernet.

Remember that I have tried another ISP (that being BT), and they were using a Homehub, and I received the same error. I'm thinking that maybe it could be something to do with this - http://www.workbooth...omeNetworks.htm
