Just want to know a good Gaming Motherboard. I was thinking ASUS Maximus IV Extreme. Or the Gigabyte G1 Sniper. Anything you can suggest. To be honest I have the AsRock Extreme 4 Gen 3, and to me it doesn't overclock efficiently enough for my liking. or maybe I am doing the wrong settings? But I have overclocked in the pass and have experience in doing so.

so... SPEC ME =) !

I don't think you have to worry that much about a motherboard. They overclock usually the same. And I don't think you need to overspend on anything. You will use only one or maybe two graphic cards so there is not that much to worry about PCIe slots either. It totally depends on you really what you want.

Personally I always do favor the GigaByte boards, because I have had the least amount of problems with them. But as long as you go with GigaByte or Asus you should be fine.

I don't think you should overspend on the MB either. The high-end motherboards are for 3-way SLI/CrossfireX really...

I agree with Mip I'm using a bog standard REV 1 Asus p67 Pro and it's run at 5GHZ for 12 months no issue. The only drawback of my baord is the slots are x16 x4 x4 or X8 x8 x4. So really for best results I need a 6990 or 7990 for 'max fps' and need to ignore slot 2. But the 590 and 6990 where good last year and the 7990 and 790 could be mind blowing this year!

Make sure one slot is PCIE 3 for best results, you have some USB 3's and at least 1 slot for a PCIE SSD.

Personally I don't recommend Z68 people seem to have issues with them and OC. I would look at the cheaper mobo's (P67) and save the cash for a awesome 28nm GPU this year and or PCIE SSD-Sata SSD.

OC past 4.4 GHZ on 2600k is bragging rights more than anything (when for a mianly games rig) and even at stock your 2600k with a 28nm GPU upgrade and a SSD instead of a HDD would be way faster and more reposive than even a 5GHZ SB_E running off a HDD with a older 40nm GPU in most games and many apps! The biggest Bottleneck in 99.9999% of PCs is a HDD's not the CPU OC!
