hey everyone. today i decided i would give the beta drivers a try.

and after i installed the driver. it keeps saying failed to install nvidia drivers.
it doesn't seem to install nvidia update and Nvidia components.

so i decided to remove all drivers manually. so after i done that. there's one the updates that doesn't want to uninstall no matter what.
its called nvidia update 1.6.24. forcing it remove does nothing at all.
and after i tried to reinstall drivers, it doesn't appear to be installed. i think there's something corrupted.

i spend 2 hours unistall and reinstall drivers. booted like 10 times. didn't fix it. games crashes after 10 sec's...
and windows 7 is recently installed. i tried windows recovery didn't work either.

i'm lost here....

i tried driver sweeper, and safemode. nothing helped. one of the components fails to install.
i think its a registry that's messing things up. i need to know the location to remove this. so i can remove nvdia update completely.
not sure if this a common issue or not..

Good luck mate - normally in these situations I'd suggest driversweeper and ccleaner... if they aren't doing it; kinda stumped :/

I have had this issue before, have to love multi GPU systems. It would seem its most common for serious driver issues when more than 1 GPU is present in the system, and gets even worse with sli and a dedicated physx card.

But after several days of beating my head against the wall with no positive results, I decided spending a couple of hours reinstalling my OS and other software was must less stressful than actually trying to solve the puzzle.

wel i currently only have 2 580's installed. i removed my 460 a while ago. because i don't play any PhysX supported games at the moment.
and i reinstalled windows like 3 weeks ago. what's up what that...

i decided to give safemode another try. reinstalled nvidia driver again. it worked, but...it only installed graphics drivers, 3D and PhysX. it didn't mention anything about nvidia update or components. games seems to work again. played a couple of hours so far. no crash. but the nvidia update is still stuck on my add/remove list.

edit: finally fixed it. i went to safemod again. used driver sweeper and regcleaner. after that i unistalled everything manually. i also checked program files if they were any nvidia folder left. deleted those too.
did go back to add/remove page. was actually unable to uninstall those. so after that, i decided to restart windows. downloaded drivers again. installed it. first time it failed.
nvidia component failed to install. after that, i went to add/remove page. and now i was able to delete the nvida update. deleted it. and reinstalled drivers again. and finally it installed with succes :)

i'm planning to sell my 2 580's. and get a faster single card. and probably will use the 460 as PhysX again.

If you have game crashes the fix may be a temp issue (or if lucky you will be fine) So do a new win7 install get WHQL on then do a system back up using Acronis etc. then you can revert back if a beta (or any driver or windows update) screws you in the future without the 1-3 hour win7 reinstall

Even with revo SSD a reinstall and configuring a browser security crapola and steam etc is still 60 mins work at best. So those backup programmes can save a ton of hassle.

I would be slighty wary of the 'fix' and just do a full Win7 WHQL driver reinstall route and backup (you can backup the fix but that might not be the best idea). Been alot of people having issues moving from Nvidia to AMD lately (driver sweeper cleaner still not getting everything or repairing the windows reg 100%) . So although the Nvidia drivers can be removed using several methods (and they are still way easier to kill than anythign AMD have ever written ever) they might still fubar some parts of windows even when go in the registery etc so the fix may be tempory and cascade with new driver installs. So if you start to have issues at all do consider the re-install route and then back that up.

EG and I warn a lot 'beta' means you'd better have a backup before you install beta anything (from AMD or Nvidia) total fubars are rare but they still happen.

Although as always the morale to this story is buy Acronis etc and backup your PC often!

On our forum like many other people may spend 100 hours watercooling their PC, making custom cooling and case and 1000's of dollars on hardware but refuse to spend $10 on backup software and 10 mins a day-week-month even year, protecting their data and OS install ;)

I have had this happen to me before as well, and the fix has usually been (not always) to right click the setup.exe you have downloaded and use Winrar (or whatever extraction tool you prefer) to manually extract the driver package and then do a manual install from there.

Awesome to see you again DLUK - it has been a while!
