Hey guys, i decided to change the thermal paste on my 6950 because when i did it on the 5850 the load temps got reduced by 10C. i used the IC Diamond thermal paste i think its the best paste out there.

I decided to use a fixed fan speed of 50% on both tests because when i tried furmark xtreme burn in with stock fan speeds on old paste the temps went over 80C so i felt uncomfortable, i ran the tests for 5 minutes to save a little time :) i think it should be enough.

so here in the first pic is the temps before changing the thermal paste.

and here is the temps after the change

so you can see that difference in temps is 8C and i think its a good improvement for only changing the thermal paste. should make this card a lot quieter on load :)

Nice temperature improvement

I wonder why AMD/NVIDIA never use a good thermal paste for their high end GPU that would drop the cost of RMA for overheating ...
ATCHUNG ! ATTENTION ! please allow the graphics card to cool for a minimum of 2 minutes after operation before removing it from your system.
OR YOU COULD BURST INTO FLAMES !!!
... not really ...

IC Diamond thermal paste is a great T.I.M. compound, it will also polish the contact surfaces and remove the the CPU lettering over time. Nice reduction of temps, this is typical results from IC Diamond thermal paste compound over cheap stock T.I.M.
