Hey, just wondering what some good options for a new MoBo, CPU, VGA, Ram and probably PSU would be if I want to spend under $1000AU. Cheers

Wait till April man.
Ivy Bridge should be interesting.
Pitty the HD 7xxx series is outrageously expensive in Aus
Your PSU looks fine.
A mid range SB or Ivy board with an unlocked i5 and 8 Gigs is probably the go.
Are you buying from PCCG?
GPU wise the 7950 is probs too expensive at $600 so a 7870 when they are out or a 5xx or 6xxx card.
Will you be selling your old hardware as well?
Kepler might be out by then as well.

If he has to have it 'Now' 2500k + pretty much any asus, msi, gigabyte mobo 4-8GB RAM and a 7950 is impossible to beat. but there are going to be some stunning deals on 6950-70 570-580 as people try and firesale stocks over the next few months so unless your mate uses 3 screens or 1600p do consider a bargin. 2600k is handy for a few games vs 2500k but mainly RTS and MMO based stuff. There generally is not much of a difference vs 2500k vs 2600-2700k in FPS and most other games.

Bulldozer is good but not so hot in windows vs intel right now but if your mate uses Linnux and stuff other than windows do check prices on Bulldozer as the 6 core is faster and better value than 2500k when you are not using windows.

Cheers for the advice. He picked up a 2500k, 6950, some cheapish gigabyte MoBo (he was struggling with costs) and 8gb Gskill ram. Thanks again

Just an FYI: Intel has delayed shipments of the upcoming Ivy Bridge processors until June 2012. They stated that this delay is being caused by a weak demand for current Sandy Bridge inventory.
