Added By utengineer, 13 February 2012 - 08:03 AM
This was my video submission for a Review Competition host by Trubritar Forums. The video demonstrates the glasses while wearing a headset.
Sorry for the bad video quality...I was using my Droid phone.

Corrective optics need to be fitted for you by a professional, and needs to have passed the muster of laboratory testing. There is concrete proof that wearing even weak corrective lenses which are not the proper prescription can cause the muscles in your eyes to atrophy and permanently damage your vision. I like the review on the frames, and they seem worth buying separately to have a lab put custom RX computer lenses into. |

Gunnar funded this study and it found no empirical evidence their product even works. You won't find this on Gunnar's site --b/c they now rely on testimonials to sell a product that failed testing. Here's what you're wearing: +1DS or +0.5DS tinted OTC reading glasses. The long term effects of wearing corrective lenses which aren't custom RX are well documented Thisis a bit biased, but a decent summation of the need to see a doctor for computer glasses.
"Resist the temptation to buy over-the-counter reading glasses for use as computer glasses. Because an accurate eyeglasses prescription is essential if you want to get the full benefits from computer glasses, it's best to purchase this eyewear from a knowledgeable eye care professional. Prior to scheduling your eye exam, measure how far you like to sit from your computer. Measure from the bridge of your nose to the surface of your computer screen. Bring this measurement with you to your exam so your eye doctor can use it to help determine the optimum lens power for your computer glasses."
You need a prescription --and then lenses without polarization or tint. Make sure any medical gear you use is FDA certified and have survived the scrutiny of REAL science. This is an example of a good computer lens Gunnar doesn't use theses in their RX lenses, but only standard Ziess lenses. Bottom line --if you're in front of a screen you will might benefit from corrective lenses even if you think your vision is fine. Go to the doctor and get a prescription for better lenses that you can but an any frame. |
